My hair’s been going south for quite some time. It’s actually not something I’m worried about. The majority of it is thinning in the back, so I don’t have to look at it, and that’s always a good thing. I stopped worrying about my hair a long time ago thanks to my father. He’s completely bald with nothing but the sides left, and he said that he never worried about it, and it’s not important. I took his advice, and I also took note of these things:
He started losing his hair at 21 he said. I’m already 25 and I still have most of it.
My thin spot in the back has not grown, and has in fact been like that for several years.
My hair is still fairly thick every where but the thin spot in the back. I can even feel hair still where the scalp is.
I like it being in the back. I always said if it happened to me I wish it happened in the back. I’m actually kind of proud of it. I tend to almost show it off to everyone I know.
If I do in fact start losing it entirely, most people who it starts in the back, tend to retain the front portion of their hair. Famous actors like Anthony Hopkins have that going on, and I had a teacher in high school who was really old, yet still had that little wall of hair that went across his head from side to side.
Even though I’m only 25 and my hair is thinning, I think of it as growing up, and just accepting it. I’m not going to pussy out and get depressed over it since I’m still young. Nor am I going to seek any “cures”. As usual, I focus on the positive aspects of it.
