Ever since I missed the presentation of early footage at Comic Con a while back, I’ve been excited to see just about anything from Coraline, the stop-motion film directed by Henry Selick from Neil Gaiman’s young-lit novel. Now a full trailer has arrived (after a week peppered with behind the scenes videos) and it looks as beautiful as anything Selick has ever done.
I’d always thought that Gaiman’s tale of a girl who finds a world parallel to her new home would be perfect for this sort of adaptation. Illustrations by Dave McKean do tend to make one think along those lines. But what’s shown here is fantastic; the movie looks very Twilight Zone-ish, without all that pesky, you know, violence.
