A new Quentin Tarantino film is always cause for excitement, and The Hateful Eight is giving film nerds a little extra reason to be giddy this holiday season. Tarantino is presenting the film in 70MM “roadshow” format in select theaters. This means the film includes an overture, intermission, and playbills. It also means the film will look absolutely stunning as anyone who has seen a true 70MM projection can attest to.
The Weinstein Company released the list of cities that will have a 70MM showing. Check and see if you’re near one:
New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Boston, Atlanta, Washington DC, Houston, Detroit, Phoenix, Seattle, Tampa, Minneapolis, Denver, Miami, Cleveland, Orlando, Sacramento, St. Louis, Portland, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, Baltimore, San Diego, Nashville, Kansas City, San Antonio, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Austin, New Orleans, Providence, Knoxville, Santa Barbara, Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver.
The roadshow cut of The Hateful Eight will also feature six minutes of, according to Tarantino, “big, long, cool, unblinking takes,” that really relish in the unique scope and beauty that 70MM can provide. If you can make it to one of these shows, it’ll almost certainly be worth your while.

Fellow Chewer Travis Newton and I (along with my podcast partner Nick Murray and his wife) are ecstatic to find there are way more Florida cities included than we could have dreamed, and we’ll be seeing the movie together Christmas weekend. If you Chewers so desire, I will try and put my immensely grown-out beard to good use by attempting the closest thing to a Kurtstache my face can muster. If this is something you want to see, let me hear it in the comments.
If you like how stupid I am, you can follow me on Twitter or listen to my podcast.
