Hellboy returns to underperform at the Box Office. Seriously, I love the comics and I respect Mignola’s body of work. It’s just that Del Toro can’t seem to connect to the mainstream with these films. It’s not like the Hellboy Animated DVDs set the world on fire, but they found a respectable base. Where is that base when it comes time for these films to be released? It can’t be a legion of fanboy protesting the film out of Seth McFarlane being the voice of Johann Krauss.
Oh well, Universal is counting on Nerd OCD to get the best of their official Dr. Who licensed wallets. Three DVD variants, a limited Collector’s Gift Set and a Blu-Ray release. Meanwhile, The African Queen still isn’t on DVD. Ponder that one.

I got through the prequels with a smile on my face. I played the video games as they progressively got shittier. This film permanently killed my desire to ever see another Star Wars product again. You finally did it, George. One of the last apologists has thrown in their hat.

Jack Black finds a new outlet for his non Tenacious schtick. Maybe it’s because the Dreamworks Animation output has been so poor, but the film was quiet enjoyable. It’s Western enough to not bore the Americans and it’s Eastern enough to keep the Asians from rolling their eyes uncomfortably. If you buy the DVD Two-Pack, you get to watch a bonus film. I love it when Dreamworks finds new ways to turn a profit off unused footage. Very Corman of them.
