I’ve been aboard the hype train for Robert Eggers’ The Witch since it smashed Sundance back in January. We’ve known for a while that A24 had snatched it for US release, and there was some hushed talk of it arriving this year, but the film’s initial marketing told us 2016.
Today, thanks to A24, we now know that the film will start rolling out on February 26, 2016.
I suspect A24 will expand theatrical exibition over a period of several weeks, like they did with Ex Machina, which means that people like me in less culturally relevant parts of the country may not get it for another two weeks after its NY & LA release. This is purely conjecture on my part, but consider it an educated guess. I’ll amend this if new info drops. Watch the trailer below!
