In news that’s not likely to ease the already sweltering tensions between mainstream Islam and radical PS3 owners, Sony announced the weeklong delay of their flagship platformer/world editor LittleBigPlanet in response to potentially scandalous religious content in one of its soundtrack titles. The offending song, Toumani Diabate’s Tapha Niang, references the Qur’an in several verses.
Sony recently tangled with the Church of England over the violent depiction of Manchester Cathedral in Resistance: Fall of Man, so it’s little surprise that they’d tread carefully with Qur’an references. Check it out for yourself on Diabate‘s MySpace page. He’s the Buckethead of the Kora.
Sony rescheduled the U.S. release of LittleBigPlanet for the week of October 27th.
