There was one element of The X-Files revival that I was constantly wondering about, and today it was answered. The Lone Gunmen will be returning this January.
Dean Haglund, who played the Garth lookalike Langley, confirmed this while speaking to a crowd in Sydney, Australia:
“Well, today they contacted us. We’re shooting July 28. The Gunmen are in the final six.″
I’m assuming that The Lone Gunmen won’t make an appearance in all six episodes, but man am I happy they are coming back at all. Fans will remember that the trio were killed off in the last season, but readers of The X-Files: Season 10 comic book are already ahead of the game, as their deaths were retconned in that publication.
The Lone Gunmen were one of the best things to come out of The X-Files, and it’s a shame their spin-off series floundered (especially when their debut episode eerily predicted the 9/11 attacks) because the three actors have fantastic chemistry. I’m sure we’re only going to get to see them for one of the six episodes, but that’s enough for me. I’m just happy that I’ll get to chuckle at Frohike’s cultured perviness one last time.
