In 1991, Terminator 2: Judgment Day made history as one of the most impressive VFX spectacles of all time. It appears that the upcoming Terminator: Genisys has done it again! Another VFX milestone for the ages. Just watch the following, spoilery clip:
Noticed something? I know, it is subtle. Let me give you a hint: When Arnold breaks through the glass (and bricks?) and shoves the woman away, it’s an elaborate special effect! Arnold did not do that! I know! It looks as if Arnold Schwarzenegger walked right through the window, grabbed that woman’s breasts, and shoved her away. But it never really happened! Paramount used every single dime of its ~ $200 million dollar budget to bring you another breakthrough in computer-generated imagery.
What? The moment Arnold’s character decides to break through, he is played by a stuntman! They then digitally put Arnold’s real face onto the stuntman’s face. Just like they recently did with with Lena Headey on Game of Thrones and Paul Walker on Furious 7:
– it’s just that in contrast to THOSE amateurs, Terminator does it absolutely seamlessly. What kind of sorcery is this?
I cannot self-terminate. You must lower me into the steel.
