“We’ve come a long, long way together,/Through the hard times and the good./I have to celebrate you baby,/I have to praise you like I should.”

After many years in Development Hell, Preacher is finally getting adapted for television. It’s been a lengthy journey, and some thought this day would never come, but take a look at this tweet from Seth Rogen for proof that this thing is really underway:

Preacher is easily in the running for my favorite comic book series of all time (Transmetropolitan is a close, close second), and I don’t care for any skepticism or naysaying towards this show at this point. I know a lot of stuff will be changed. I know that the show won’t be as foul-mouthed as its comic counterpart. I don’t care. I want nothing but the best for this show, so I’m keeping my blind optimism visor bolted onto my eyes until this thing has run its course.

AMC has proven itself to be HBO’s number one competitor when it comes to high-budgeted serialized drama, and I hope they are putting the same confidence behind Preacher as they did Mad MenBreaking Bad and The Walking Dead (which I am not a follower of, but I respect AMC’s faith in such a bleak and bloody horror show). If they have, we could be in for something special.
