Who knew seventy-five year old Ian McKellen would ever get another opportunity to play a character twenty years older than himself? He does so in Mr. Holmes, a sweet little movie about an aging Sherlock Holmes solving one last case before his great mind gives in. There’s no Professor Moriarty and sadly no bare knuckle boxing, but McKellen has a personal Watson working behind the camera. The flick is helmed by Bill Condon (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts I & II) who already directed him in an Academy Award nominated performance in Gods and Monsters.
Expect this to be a major player at next year’s ceremony, and it’ll probably WRECK Ant-Man when they both open on July 17.
