I know a certain amount about Repo! The Genetic Opera (from Saw II director Darren Lynn Bousman, features repo men recollecting purchased organs after failed payments, musical, etc.) but none of the info contributes any understanding as to why the final official poster from Lionsgate bears the graphic design stamp of old Russian revolutionary images. I don’t really care, either, because I like it. (The same style has graced a couple other images for the film, as seen here and here.) Like a lot of people, the presence of Paris Hilton continues to raise red flags (not even going to connect that to the Russian style imagery) but fuck it, the film also has Nivek Ogre from Skinny Puppy. They turned me on to more than a few horror films in my youth (I never would have watched The Tenant so early if they hadn’t sampled it relentlessly) so I should really give it the benefit of the doubt.
Like Midnight Meat Train, Lionsgate has dicked Repo around, pushing back the original April release to a limited (ten screens) November 10 opening before the early ’09 DVD bow.
