I didn’t see Jonathan Liebesman’s Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but if anything could get me to blind watch the sequel in a drunken haze, it’s the inclusion of Tyler Perry as meddling scientist Baxter Stockman. Oh, looks like I got my wish.
Yes, Madea will be playing the second most notable human/fly hybrid in popular fiction. I’m sure this is what everyone expects, but I almost wish they’d go full dark and adapt the version of Baxter Stockman that appeared in the 2003 cartoon. Instead of turning into a fly, Stockman cloned himself and found that his clone body was deteriorating. That led to some pretty great Saturday morning images like this:
This episode wasn’t aired on television. I can’t imagine why. If this happens to Tyler Perry in the sequel, I’ll be there on opening day. Not because I have any ill feelings about Tyler Perry, but because I want to drink in the screams and tears of a hundred traumatized children.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 will brush off some telepods and start production next summer.
