The Flash is a character who is fun, highly energetic and always involved in the craziest of action scenes. Therefore, it’s only understandable that David S. Goyer (Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel, Batman V. Superman: Yawn of Justice*) is not set to write his story. Goyer is always good with grim and broody stuff (see Blade: Trinity, Jumper), but hasn’t had much experience with bright and colorful stories. That’s why DC has officially brought in Phil Lord and Chris Miller of the 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie franchises to write the story for the fastest man on Earth. As of now, they’re only set to develop the story, but hopefully they’ll fall in love with their own story and take over director’s duties as well. Ezra Miller of the great We Need to Talk About Kevin has been cast as Barry Allen.
I gotta admit I haven’t seen anything from the most recent The Flash TV series starring Grant Gustin, but as a kid I saw the 1990 John Wesley Shipp series. Anyone remember that one? And I highly recommend the animated DC movie Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox which put the man in red spandex front and center in creative ways.
