When I read that Guillermo del Toro and Ryan Gosling spent the day of the Oscars this year at Disneyland, I wept with joy. Those are the kinds of creative people I dig. Who wants to dress all fancy when you can spend a day at the most magical place on Earth? Well, it looks like that little jaunt might have been more than just a friendly outing. Seems like del Toro is making a deal with Gosling to have the former Mouseketeer appear in The Haunted Mansion.
We haven’t heard much about The Haunted Mansion in a long time, but that’s typical with a lot of del Toro’s projects. The guy has a lot of irons in the fire, and as fans, it’s frustrating because all of those irons sounds ridiculously cool (or hot, I guess. …Because they’re irons in a fire). The Haunted Mansion is certainly one of del Toro’s most enticing possibilities, if just so we can continue forgetting about THIS:
If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a big del Toro supporter, and I’m always in the market for another one of his films. I’m hoping the deal with Gosling lands, if just to help the film’s momentum pick up. With more broad reaching horror like Ouija taking off and stuff like Poltergeist and Goosebumps on the horizon (not to mention the promise of a Five Nights at Freddy’s adaptation), I’d like the Mouse House to stake its claim in the horror genre, especially with Guillermo and Gosling at the helm.
