Tom Hardy (there’s an English muffin I’d love to butter) dropped an important nugget of info in his recent interview with Esquire: if all goes well with Mad Max: Fury Road, Hardy has signed papers allowing him to reprise the role of Max Rockatansky three (three!) more times. The dude is cool about it, and lets people know there’s only one way such a thing will come to pass:
“Everything’s based on figures and how things are perceived. Inevitably it’s a business.”
That’s right, folks. The only way for you to get more batshit George Miller adventures in the wasteland is to go vote with your dollars come May 15th. And if you think there isn’t already a plan for more movies, let’s turn things over to the Aussie auteur himself. From The Playlist:
“In order to tell this story, we came up with two others. We’ve written the screenplay of one and the novelization of another, but it’s a very rough novel,” Miller said. “We kept working on them while we were working on other things.”
Mad Max: Fury Road was originally supposed to be shot back-to-back with a sequel called Mad Max: Furiosa, so it stands to reason that Miller has at least one film already figured out for this new iteration of Max. If Hardy is to be believed (and how could you not believe that guy?), your participation in Mad Max: Fury Road‘s box office performance this summer will determine the fate of any more films.
May 15th, Chewers. I’m counting on you.
