I feel I’m in the minority when it comes to preferring 2006’s Casino Royale over Daniel Craig’s other two Bond adventures (Skyfall is great, don’t get me wrong), but I’m extremely excited for the next film in the series, Spectre. Having the diabolical organization return to the franchise is a big win for fans, and it promises a return to some classic Bond shenanigans. One of those mainstays has always been a signature henchman, and Spectre has a pretty great person filling those shoes. Dave Bautista, who surprised everyone by being one of the most enduring characters in Guardians of the Galaxy, will be playing the very Bond henchman sounding Mr. Hinx. Empire Magazine has the first official look at the future Bond baddie:
Is that a double-barreled handgun? That’s a double-barreled handgun. I’m sold. You know that’s getting put in the next Bond video game. Bautista (I want to spell it the wrestler-y way every time I type it) also had some stuff to say about the character:
“When I came over to meet Sam [Mendes], I only asked two questions,” says the erstwhile Galaxy Guardian. “I asked him if Mr. Hinx was a badass. He said, ‘Yes, he’s a badass.’ I said, ‘Well, is Mr. Hinx intelligent?’ He said, ‘Very.’ That’s what I like about Mr. Hinx. He’s very well-dressed and very well-mannered. I’m not just here to fight people. He has a sense of humour. He definitely knows what a metaphor is.”
I really like Batis- Bautista. He’s got a great presence and a willingness to trust his directors. I hope the best for the guy. The movie world needs more Dwayne Johnsons.
Spectre shoots us in the face with a double-barreled handgun on November 6th.
