Joining the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse is Australian actor Kodi Smit-McPhee as fan favorite mutant Nightcrawler! This news comes to us from Bryan Singer’s Instagram, which isn’t surprising seeing that he made the film’s first big casting announcement on Twitter.
Apocalypse takes place in ’83, First Class took place in ’62, so I suppose they could be going with the Mystique and Azazel parentage. That’ll be super weird to see on screen, but hey, we’re eight movies into this franchise and they were bound to get weird sometime.
What do you guys think? I think you can slap enough blue make-up and prosthetics on just about any young dude to get the look right, but I think Smit-Phee’s a fine choice, joining an already great cast.
You’ll see all your favorite blue mutants on May 27, 2016 when X-Men: Apocalypse hits US theaters.
