The holidays are over, and things are moving again! Let’s get to it.

Scarlett Johansson to Star In ‘Ghost In The Shell’ Live-Action Film

Dreamworks is making it, but Paramount may co-produce and co-finance. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and The Huntsman) is gonna direct it, and Bill Wheeler wrote the screenplay. That’s about all you need to know. I’m sure a release date will be announced before long, so stay tuned. Source.

‘Gambit’ Announces a Writer and a Release Date

X-Men franchise producer Lauren Shuler Donner told us a while ago that this would be happening with Channing Tatum in the lead, so that’s not news. But we now know that Joshua Zetumer (2014’s Robocop) will be writing the screenplay. No director has been announced. The film’s release date is a bit odd for an X-Men film: October 7, 2016. That’s five months after X-Men: Apocalypse. October 7 sounds like a to-be-shuffled date to me, but what do I know? Source.

Next ‘Apes’ Delayed as Fox Announces and Shuffles Upcoming Releases

The next Apes flick, to be directed by Matt Reeves, has been bumped from its July 29, 2016 release all the way to July 14, 2017. Taking its original place is Universal’s new untitled Bourne flick, which will re-team Damon and Paul Greengrass. The Assassin’s Creed film starring Michael Fassbender will now see a US release on December 16, 2016. Hugh Jackman’s P.T. Barnum musical The Greatest Showman on Earth will open on December 25, 2016. Then there’s a plane crash movie starring Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam called The Mountain Between Us that will open February 10, 2017. The Fantastic Four 2 (still purely hypothetical) has moved up to June 2, 2017. Got all that? Source.

T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein to Join ‘Deadpool’, We Think

TheWrap received some tips that the very funny T.J. Miller and Game of Thrones‘ Ed Skrein have been cast in the upcoming Deadpool film with Ryan Reynolds. This hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but hey, we might see ’em on February 12, 2016 when the film is release. Source.

Elle Fanning In Talks to Star in Refn’s ‘The Neon Demon’

TheWrap is reporting that Fanning is in negotiations to star in Nicolas Winding Refn’s horror film as “an aspiring model who is caught in a world of beauty and demise”. That sounds an awful lot like the excellent Starry Eyes, which told a tale of a young actress who gets caught up in some awfully freaky stuff as she attempts to ascend the ladder of Hollywood fame. Refn and Mary Laws are credited with writing The Neon Demon‘s screenplay. Production begins in March, and we may be lucky enough to see this in 2015, but I doubt it. Source.

Scream Factory Releases Art and Details for ‘Escape From New York’ Collector’s Edition

While the extras haven’t yet been finalized, the Blu-Ray set will have two discs. In more awesome news, we now know that the disc will feature a brand new transfer, created from a new 2K scan of the inter-positive. I can’t wait to see it in all its grainy glory. The new cover art, created by Paul Shipper, is available below. The cover will be reversible, and the opposite side will feature the film’s original iconic key art. The set hits shelves on April 21.
