JJ Abrams (or Double J or DubJay as I like to call him) got his people on the phone with God’s people and optioned the rights to the temblor that hit the Los Angeles area a couple of weeks back. While DubJay has a pretty sweet deal at Paramount, The Lord’s shingle is set up at Universal, so that’s where this new earthquake movie will be set up. DubJay is getting The Omen writer David Seltzer on board to script every shake, every rattle and definitely every roll.
There’s something I really love about Hollywood people cashing on on an earthquake movie. It’s probably the fact that when the big one does finally hit, the people making all the money on this movies are just as likely to die as the rest of us.
This looks like a producing project for DubJay, and no director is set yet.
