Of course, as embarrassed as ‘ole Cthulhu might be, it’s probably preferable to whatever those poor scientists are going to be feeling once Cthulhu gets up there. I imagine maggots for heads will just be the start.
I hope to God that Del Toro gets his Mountains of Madness movie up and running. The beasties in Hellboy were a good start, and I’m sure Hellboy 2 will only improve on them, but I look forward to the full-tentacled fury of an actual honest-to-elder-god Lovecraft movie. Take the Devil’s Backbone, add unspeakable beasts and a bit more supernatural bloodshed and madness and I’m sold! I wouldn’t even mind an atomic pile-driver or two.
