Warner Bros. just spilled the beans on the DCCU with a release schedule through 2019 and some Justice League casting news! First, the schedule:
2016: Batman v. Superman, Suicide Squad
2017: Wonder Woman, Justice League
2018: The Flash, Aquaman
2019: Shazam, Justice League 2
I wish I had a better reaction to this other than a silent raise of the eyebrows, but that’s what happened. I kind of like that we’re getting a Suicide Squad movie so soon. I also like that we’ll be getting a Wonder Woman film (presumably) before the full-on Justice League film. I like that 2018 will be the year of the Justice League B-listers, and based on the casting of these characters, they could be really fun. We’ve known that Jason Momoa has the Aquaman gig for a while, but it’s finally been officially confirmed. In a total surprise, Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin) will play The Flash. That’s the big news here, because Miller is a really solid performer. His slim build and puckish features will fill the suit well.
We also know that more standalone features are in the works, including: a rebooted Green Lantern, another Supes movie, and a Batfleck movie that I’m sure will be known as Der Schlägermann Fledermausmann in Germany. What say you, chewers? Does any of this excite you?
UPDATE: I’m now hearing from ComingSoon that Suicide Squad will be directed by David Ayer (Fury), and that 2020 will see the release of Cyborg and Green Lantern. Zack Snyder will be directing both Justice League films, which are being called Justice League Part One and Part Two.
