I just got a press release about Kate Hudson joining the cast of Nine, the musical starring Daniel Day Lewis (and yeah, the idea of Kate Hudson acting against DDL is just as weird to me as it is to you. How can she ever go back to starring with Matthew McConaughey after this experience?) made me laugh. Here’s the first paragraph:
NEW YORK,
NEW YORK (July 14, 2008) – The Weinstein Company announced today that Academy
Award nominee Kate Hudson (“ALMOST FAMOUS”) will join the cast of “NINE,”
Academy Award Nominee Rob Marshall’s (“MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA,” “CHICAGO”)
adaptation of the Tony Award Winning Broadway musical. The film stars Academy
Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis (“THERE WILL BE BLOOD,” “MY LEFT FOOT”) as world
famous film director Guido Contini as he prepares his latest picture and
balances the numerous women in his life played by Hudson and the previously
announced Academy Award Winners Nicole Kidman (“THE HOURS”), Marion Cotillard
(“LA VIE EN ROSE”), Judi Dench (“SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE”), Sophia Loren (“LA
CIOCIARA”) and Academy Award nominee Penélope Cruz (“VOLVER”). The announcement
was made today by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, co-chairmen of The Weinstein
Company. Academy Award.
Bold is mine.
So this is an Academy Award movie, huh? I’m shocked that each of the Academy Award winners listed at the end didn’t get Academy Award in front of their names.

Fixed it for you, Weinsteins!
