Hello folks. Those of you loyal readers of Creature Corner know that for the last two summers we’ve been hosting free movie nights at a bar in NYC. It’s getting warm outside, so it’s time to start it all over again.
This Sunday, June 1st, all of you of drinking age are invited to head on down to Hell Gate Social in Astoria, Queens, for an evening of… Rock N’ Roll.
Yes, we’re going to be showing Wild Zero, the film that Chud’s very own Jason Pollock loved to death in his Sewer Subterannia column. Why’s it a perfect fit for a bar? Well, because it’s an action-packed Japanese Rock N’ Roll zombie flick that comes with a built-in drinking game, that’s why. At certain moments in the film a beer mug will pop up on screen which means the viewers have to take a shot. Anyone seen not drinking will be ejected from the premises (That’s a lie. Maybe…)
After the movie viewers will compete for prizes, fame, and the lamentations of the women. I’ve got a ton of dvds to give away and maybe a few more surprises….
Hell Gate Social is a bar/lounge located on 12-21 Astoria Blvd. (Between 12th and 14th St.). They’ve got an awesome
projector set up in their lovely backyard garden, ensuring good times for all and plenty of seating. The bar opens at 7, the movie will start around 8:30- 9:00, as soon as the sun goes down. Come on down early to get in the right “mood” for the film. And once again this is absolutely free- we’re just looking to have a great time here at one of my favorite places in the world (I’m serious… I even had my engagement party there).
For the New Yorkers- the easiest way to get there is to take the N train to Astoria Blvd and walk 8 blocks towards the water. Check their MySpace page out for directions, or just shoot me an email with any questions. Hope to see some of you Chewers there!
