I wish I had more excuses to use the word “jangly.”
SUMMER CHEERS & JEERS
Cheers to: Iron Man. For delivering no more or less than a summer action movie. It makes an interesting parallel with The Mummy, which had the same release date, and opened right before The Phantom Menace. Hey, and then there’s The Love Guru, a Wachowski film and a new M Night film, so it’s just like the summer of 1999. What a summer that was!
Jeers to: Speed Racer and its box office. Parents basically said “Hey, I’m not getting high, and my kids aren’t getting high either. We can’t get with your laser light show!” I wonder if there’s a special album to sync this film up to. I’m hoping it’s Metal Machine Music.
Cheers to: Prince Caspian. Why not It’s going to make money hand over fist even though the first film was not all that good. Disney got lucky with the release date. They called it and now they’re the only ones opening this weekend. So with a $80-90 Million dollar weekend, and good international, let’s get ready for more. Or not.
Jeers to: Those Indy IV reviews. I need to see this movie four or five times before I figure out if it’s good or not!
Cheers to: sticking to a formula that didn’t work the first time. Tell me if you don’t see some similarities here:
Maybe it’s just me. Though Sandler looks to have more “padding”
Cheers to: That Happening review. God, what a slaughtering. Can’t wait to see it (or at the very least read it) now.
Jeers to: Lazy columnists. Who do they think they are? Mr. Big Stuff?
WHOOP WHOOP! THAT’S THE SOUND OF THE PREDICTION! WHOOP WHOOP! THAT’S THE SOUND OF THE BEAST
So Prince Caspian opens, and Speed Racer drops 60%. Sad panda.
Save it for the stage, Romeo:
1. Prince Caspian: $84 Million
2. Iron Man: $24 Million
3. What Happens in Vegas: $13.5 Million
4. Speed Racer:-$8.5 Million
5. Made of Honor: 5 Million
And Sunday I’m going to try and see that Indiana Jones for myself.
