AMC aired its winter finale (ugh) of The Walking Dead last night and took the opportunity to give us a short look at its newest drama, Turn. While AMC’s output has been hit-or-miss, Turn has me excited. A drama about spies during the Revolutionary War, the drama stars Jamie Bell as Abe Woodhull, a “a farmer living behind enemy lines in British-occupied Long Island.” Together, Woodhull and his pals join together to turn (get it?) the war in favor of the Americans. They did a good job because, well, Britain no longer occupies Long Island.
AMC brings in big numbers and creates a lot of hubbub but their schedule isn’t nearly as strong as some of their cable competitors. Will Turn be able to create ratings, buzz and critical acclaim?
The hole left by Walter White is large. Is Turn AMC’s next big thing?
