I haven’t loved everything Joe Carnahan has been a part of, but this is unimpeachably badass. The Hollywood Reporter has an email that Carnahan sent to Jonathan Glickman in April of this year. Here are some of the best bits:
“You had a potential Oscar-winning film with maybe the best script in Hollywood but because you’re a coward and a dumb c— you now have an untested, second-time director and an arrogant, lazy, aging action star that will run that poor kid into the ground,” the missive read.
That’s in reference to the Death Wish remake, which Carnahan was set to direct. I guess that didn’t go so well, huh? Here’s some more:
“Good luck, asshole. You’re a spineless, gutless turd who doesn’t belong in the business. Enjoy your run as a ‘studio head,’ Glickman. It’s going to be a short one. F— you, JoeCarnahan.”
Glickman is “MGM’s motion picture group president” in addition to being a spineless, gutless turd (allegedly). Carnahan directed The Grey, and is my hero.
