As much as I love Joseph Gordon-Levitt pulling what should be a reasonable paycheck for G.I. Joe, I’m a lot happier to report his presence in a movie I’d actually (perhaps) want to see. He and Zooey Deschanel are now starring in 500 Days of Summer, which is being branded Fox Searchlight’s anti-romantic comedy. [So sez THR.]
Debut director Mark Webb will helm from a script by budding heavyweights Scott Neustadter and Michael M. Weber. Their opus is ‘an examination of a relationship between a woman (Deschanel) who doesn’t believe in love and the man (Gordon-Levitt) who falls hopelessly in love with her.‘
Webb may be new to features, but he’s a music video vet, having made all those My Chemical Romance, Fergie and Evanescence videos you love. Minka Kelly, Rachel Boston, Clark Gregg, Matthew Gray Gubler, and Chloe Moretz round out the cast. Shooting starts this week.
Now that I think about it, I might rather see G.I. Joe.
