Underground
The Underground is our recurring feature, resurrected from an all-time great CHUD column, the aim of which is to get the word out on projects outside the Hollywood studio system.  Studio films have big promotion engines behind them.  The Underground caters to everything else: from indie films, to cult films in the making, pet projects, guerrilla films, internet shorts, etc.

Paradox AliceParadox Alice is a sci-fi indie film by first time feature director Eric Dapkewicz (editor: Puss In BootsMonsters vs. Aliens) being distributed by The Orchard.  It stars Jeneta St. Clair, Stewart W. Calhoun, Ethan Sharrett, Andrew Hernon and Amy Lindsay as the crew of the Red Queen, a ship dispatched to Jupiter’s moon Europa (Europa’s pretty popular this year) to retrieve water for the vestiges of humanity on a nuclear-ravaged Earth who have precious little non-contaminated water left. Unfortunately, during the return trip those foolish humans succeed in destroying the rest of the planet, leaving the Red Queen crew the last humans alive. There’s one small problem with that, though: the entire surviving crew is male.  So the prospects for the species continuing ain’t looking too good.

Then, out of nowhere, inexplicably, one of the crew pulls that whole Jurassic Park dino sex change / “life will find a way” thing and hey, the species is back on!  One problem, men are going to do what men do when they both want the same chick, humanity’s fate and any chance of having space sex is hanging in the balance: infighting ensues.  Meanwhile, the protochick in question, Alice, struggles with the change and what it inspires in her male crewmates…and himherself.

Paradox Alice is available for rental in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand across all major online video services including iTunes, Amazon, Hulu, X-box, Playstation, and Vudu as well as through Cable VOD now.
