Telltale Games sure have been doing a lot of great things with Sam and Max lately. The fantastic second season of the game has its finale being released next week, the very fun cartoon series has just hit dvd, the Surfin’ the Highway graphic novel is back in print (and well worth picking up!), and this morning they announced that the long rumored Wii port of Sam and Max is well and truly happening. Yes!
The entire first season of the critically-acclaimed episodic game will be available for Nintendo’s system sometime this fall. The game will consist of all 6 episodes from PC game that reveal a plot to hypnotize the world, and our heroic duo’s attempts to stop it or abuse it as they see fit.
Anyone can tell you that this is the perfect match- the Wii remote is perfectly suited for a point and click adventure game. The reason this was even at all possible was because of fan demand…. an email campaign and constant rumors led to publisher interest in the title. Telltale has joined up with JoWooD/DreamCatcher to bring it out.
I’m so excited that these guys are getting out to a bigger audience now. Gotta love the official line about the duo-
Sam is a six-foot dog in a baggy suit sporting a trombone-sized .44 hand-cannon. Max is a three foot “rabbity thing” with a saw blade grin and the impulsive nature of the average piranha. Together they patrol the sticky streets of a fantastical New York City, righting wrongs, pummeling perps, and ridding the urban landscape of the shifty legions of “self-propelled gutter trash” that litter their streets.
Stay in touch for more news, and don’t forget that Telltale’s also got something coming up for Wii Ware when it hits next month. We’re also going to have a review of the last episode of Sam and Max‘s second season (“What’s New, Beelzebub?“) next week. Check the official site for more info and all kinds of goodies.
