On the list of things that are not funny, Ask A Ninja ranks many spots higher than Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, a movie that was funny for like 15 seconds when you were twelve. So it’s a stroke of genius to bring the not funny guys behind Ask A Ninja*, the sort of web thing your moronic cubiclemate finds hilarious, to a remake of Attack of the Killer Tomatoes.
Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine are escaping at the 14th minute of meme fame, but they’re taking their lack of comedy with them. They’re writing the script together, and Nichols will be directing.
” ‘Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!’ is the masterwork of a
generation,” Nichols said. “We can only aspire to recapture that
magic.” See, it’s like post-ironic appreciation of an ironic work of irony or something. Get raped by a pit bull.
What’s kind of great is that the funniest thing about this whole bit of business was a line by Hollywood Reporter’s Gregg Goldstein: ‘No changes to the original plot have been revealed, but it
still is expected to revolve around killer tomatoes.’ See, that’s funny, Nichols and Sarine.
*Why are ninjas and the internet so unamusing together? For further examples, see that Real Ultimate Power site. If you laugh at this shit and you’re not in 6th grade, you’re probably just trying to get in touch with what the 6th graders like so you can rape them better.
