Back in January the Terminator franchise began to lurch forward with the hope that we’d finally see some payoff from Megan Ellison’s dramatic purchase of the rights. Not teamed up with her billionaire brother, Ellison and co. have just entered into a relationship with Paramount Pictures to get this show on the road.
Fortunately it looks like they’ll be taking James Cameron’s advice and taking the franchise back to its roots, at least in terms of the leading man. So say Arnold Schwarzenegger himself:
In fact, I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January and I’m also going to do King Conan – to play that role and also to do another Twins movie. So I feel very proud of that. I feel very happy and I’m looking forward to doing those films.
This January start date doesn’t come with word on a director, though Justin Lin is more available now than he was last time this was attempted…
