Last time we saw the Justice League, they were about to be undone by the terror of The Striking Writer. But now, with the strike plausibly ending as soon as tomorrow, things are back in motion; Warner Bros was looking to shut the whole thing down as nobody was happy with the script, but the ability to go back to the page next week could be the last minute save the JLA needed to get out of this death trap.
One person who is feeling very positive about it all is Common, the rapper who has been attached to the role of Green Lantern. He gives MTV News an almost confirmation that he’s going to be in the film: “It’s a blessing really, to know that I could potentially be this superhero,” he says. “Justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It’s a blessing to be associated with it.”
Unfortunately the site doesn’t have a quote from Common about the film moving forward, although they paraphrase him as saying he’s confident it will. I’m hoping that the months this film spent in limbo was like the moment when Michael Keaton woke up next to that dead chick in Clean and Sober and that the project has hit bottom and everybody is now committed to cleaning it up and not making it as shitty as it previously threatened to be. Common’s a fine choice for Green Lantern, and I hope that the rest of the cast gets dumped and people equally fine are hired.
