Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always should have been made ten years ago. Up until today, fans of the author’s work were under the impression that this would remain another in a long list of film versions of literary works shelved due to production issues. Right now the ball has begun to roll again on the children’s tale written for adults that is arguably one of the writer’s best stories of his career.
Oliver Parker has been called out by Clive Barker himself as the director of the new adaptation. Parker is responsible for the off-comedy St. Trinian’s, 2002’s The Importance of Being Earnest and most recently Johnny English Reborn. The man has also acted in the Clive Barker films Hellraiser, Hellbound and Nightbreed. Hopefully the man who played Peloquin can finally bring The Thief of Always to life.
