Mostly all about Bomberman today. Yeah, nothing much to purchase for your consoles, but we’ve got a vibrator-free version of Rez coming Wednesday!
The Sims: Castaway Stories (PC)
Buy it from CHUD here!
Yep, they’re still making these. Who knew? I was going to find out how many expansion packs for The Sims were released, but then I remembered that our time on this earth is limited, and shouldn’t be wasted on stupid things. Anyway, if you’ve got to keep your girlfriend busy or something I guess you could pick this up, where your Sims are trapped on an island and try to recreate Lost.
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice (PSP)
Buy it from CHUD here!
A sequel to Pursuit Force? Really? Must’ve sold decently, but the original PSP game was nothing too exciting. The coolest thing about it was the way you were able to jump to other people’s vehicles along the way to the boss, but otherwise the arcadey action/driving game didn’t do much for me. This one of course will have more characters, more bosses, and more vehicles, but will more likely just be more of the same. More.
Bomberman Land (Wii, PSP)
Buy it from CHUD here!
This is creeping me out. Bomberman has a Story Mode. Yeah, the Bomberman Land games have been out for a while, but it’s still weird to see the little guy in a platforming game. Once again here there is a single player story mode where you solve quests and puzzles to bring peace to Bomberman World. Course, it’s also got the classic multiplayer mode, and since it’s on the Wii, 50 minigames. I think that might be one of Nintendo’s laws- no games unless there’s at least 50 (fifty) minigames included. Note that both versions 30 beans.
Bomberman Land Touch! 2 (DS)
Buy it from CHUD here!
And this is pretty much the same game, except that the story mode is in an isometric 2d perspective so it won’t have to struggle to keep up with the more powerful systems.
King’s Bounty: The Legend (PC)
Buy it from CHUD here!
You might remember this title- King’s Bounty was the game that preceded the Heroes of Might and Magic series. This sequel in name only was picked up by Russian game company 1C for a good restarting. It’s got turn-based battles and all the typical role playing trappings, as you can see by simply looking at the cover.
Monday’s Wii Virtual Console Title
It’s official! Nintendo fell off. When the VC first hit, we were promised 3 new releases a week, but that’s dwindled to two a week in the last few, and now we just have one!
What’s going on, guys?
1080° Snowboarding (N64 – 1000 Points – $10)
This game was a huge hit when it came out, and I remember being wowed by the graphics at the time (realistic snow!), but who knows how it holds up. I’m actually a little surprised they didn’t try to put a sequel out for the Wii just yet, as SSX Blur showed, you could do some cool things with the controls.
Rez HD (PS2 Remake – 800 Points – $10)
Everyone’s been waiting for this one! The game was originally released for the Dreamcast and PS2, but if you missed out on buying it you had basically no shot of ever finding a copy. They didn’t make a lot of these. It’s a strange mix of a on-rails shooter and a music game, and was infamous for including a vibrator with a Japanese special edition. That’s not a joke, the thing was called a Trance Vibrator which would pulse with the music. I’m sure you can guess what it was used for. Anyway, this version’s got upgraded visuals and sound, and is sure to be a big hit.
Chessmaster LIVE (Original – ??? Points- ?)
It’s chess… don’t expect anything too fancy. Of course, this one will include online multiplayer and even Xbox Live Vision support, so it could be pretty damn fun. I’d also hope that it keeps the majority of Xbox Live retards away, cause you can only imagine how annoying it would be to hear some 12 year old screaming “HURRY UP, FAGGOT!” while you’re trying to place your knight.
In Other News-
Rock Band’s got some great stuff lined up for tomorrow’s downloadable songs (Thursday for your poor PS3s) The first is the only master track.
Siva – Smashing Pumpkins
Working Man – Rush
Ten Speed (Of God’s Blood and Burial) – Coheed and Cambria
I’m probably going to pick up all 3. I have to say, I hate Coheed, because that singer’s voice really gets to me, but that first track of theirs from the game is one of the most fun to play. Epic!
Anyway, besides that, some good news for Wii owners. According to Gamestop, Super Smash Brothers Brawl will have a whole bunch of Virtual Console demos available on the disc. Demos included will be for Ice Climbers, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Kid Icarus, Kirby’s Adventure, Super Metroid, and Star Fox, among others. If you’re any kind of gamer you’ve played through most of those, but it’s nice to see them trying. It’s just time for them to start offering demos for download! The Japanese have it already, get with the program Nintendo!
It’s going to be a long wait till March 9th, when SSBB’s finally released.
That’s it for now, see you next week when some huge titles hit, like Turok, Devil May Cry 4, and My Horse and Me.
