Alright, stop me if you’ve heard this one: beleaguered Mars colonists must look to a lone hero to rise up against an authoritarian government in order to regain their lost righ-zzzzzz. Not exactly a groundbreaking concept, but it’s hard to cry foul when Spiders’ launch trailer for Mars: War Logs showcases a sci-fi (yawn) action RPG (huh!?) that seems to be making a conscious effort to stand out from the pack. With the promise of an active combat system centered around 3 key components (melee, stealth and “technomancy”), evolving dialogue trees, item crafting, NPC companions and moral quandaries, Mars seems tailor made to scratch the itch left when Mass Effect went all bro on us. Add in the sweet-spot price of $20, and it’s hard not to get a little excited. Check out the trailer below:
The game’s coming soon to consoles, but PC gamers can check it out right now on Steam.
