In November of last year, Warp Films held an event for their 10th birthday. The Shane Meadows film Dead Man’s Shoes was screened live with an updated score that included new music by artists from the bands UNKLE, Clayhill, South and Goldfrapp. The film has been hailed as a modern British cult classic featuring a stirring lead performance from Paddy Considine, an actor you may know from Hot Fuzz, The Red Riding Trilogy and the upcoming apocalyptic pub crawl film, The World’s End. His portrayal of a traumatized war veteran bent on revenge is intense and brilliant.
The Dead Man’s Shoes Live event encore will be occurring tomorrow night in London at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Paddy Considine will present the film in person. The new score presented is meant to compliment the original film and it’s bleak revenge filled narrative by emphasizing the use of songs as a storytelling device. This is an event worth attending for any chewer in the London area that can snag a ticket. Check out the interview below where Mark Herbert of Warp Films discusses the film and the event. Skip to the 07:42 mark and hear all about Dead Man’s Shoes Live.
