I love a nice image that speaks for itself, and this still form Pacific Rim (clearly pulled from a news segment within the film) does so. Nothing screams “Monster” better than a giant footprint and, in fact, Emmerich’s Godzilla remake set an entire first-act ominous scene around such a setting. “You’re standing in it.”
That footprint was carved out of the ground in a famous valley in Hawaii where they’ve shot everything from Lost to Snakes On A Plane, and the footprint is still kinda there.
In any event, Pacific Rim hits theaters July 11th. We still have WB’s other biggest blockbuster between now and then, meaning that the moment the high from Man Of Steel passes (if it’s any good), we’ll go straight into this. Gonna be a fun summer.
