I was sitting in my living room, writing up the National Board of Review winners, when someone knocked on my door. It was a guy with a cake in one hand and a copy of the Gotham Times in the other. I had been delivered my own Joker cake.
Some of you have seen the pictures of this on other message boards; for those of you who can’t stomach the idea of wading through 700+ messages on the Superhero Hype! boards, here’s a pictorial journey with my cake:
First, the cake. It has a number on it. I called that number and a phone rang… from inside the cake.
I cut the cake open…
Inside was an evidence bag with a phone and more items within…
Unpacking it I found a Nokia phone, a charger, a Gotham Times press pass and a Joker playing card. On the back of that card was another phone number.
Calling that number I was invited to head down to The Bridge tonight (that’s a movie theater on the exact opposite side of town from where I live, a million miles away), where The Joker has something to show me. I imagine it’s that opening footage that was seen in New York City on Monday. Sadly, I wont be able to make it – there’s no good way for me to get there, and I have to go to The Wright Stuff tonight. I’ll tell you, though – this was certainly the most expensive invite to a press event I have ever gotten!
To find out what I won’t be seeing tonight, head over to UGO.
