Not all will be pleased with them being mentioned in the same sentence, but sequels to both Ted and Super Troopers have been explicitly confirmed today, I just thought you should know.
As for the fuzzy Oscar-presenter with the filthy mouth and cutting-edge Jew jokes, the confirmation comes from Mark Wahlberg. He tacitly confirms the sequel is on a fast-track, which is the opposite of surprising considering the bear movie made over half-a-billion worldwide off a $50m budget.
“There is a Ted 2. We’ve already locked a deal. They’re off writing now and I’ve never done a sequel before, but I have just so much confidence in Seth. He’s such a talented and funny guy.”
Wahlberg apparently let that loose on Anderson Cooper’s show (via Screenrant).
For the most hardcore comedy geeks and cult fans, I would assume news from Kevin Hefferman must come with equal excitement and trepidation. Broken Lizard has not developed a reputation for knocking their comedy films out of the park every time, or even very often. Still, Super Troopers is one of those comedies that cures well over time, and only gets more hilarious with each rewatch. That’s a tough, rare thing to pull off, but armed with beloved characters, the guys might manage something funny.
“There will be a Super Troopers sequel. We put it off for a while and then came back to it. We wrote the script and handed it in to Fox and now we’re just negotiating the time and the place and hopefully shoot it some time this year. I have to start growing my mustache now.”
That’s not quite a greenlight announcement, but you can be fairly confident that you’ll be seeing Super Troopers 2 next year. (via GuySpeed)
