Yeah, it’s manipulative. Yeah, J.J. Abrams and crew milked their fanboys a little too hard. Yeah, viral marketing has already gotten stale. Yeah, the film’s two months away and they still ain’t shown us jack shit.
But I’m sold.
The new teaser trailer for Cloverfield has finally eclipsed its shaky and hideous YouTube origins having bowed to nice effect in front of the much excellent Beowulf [still can’t believe how this film snookered me] and though the quality is marred by a small screen size it’s nice to see the little extra tidbits tossed in regarding the size of the beast and its path of destruction.
I get really irate when people on the message boards or at the theater are disappointed that "wait, it’s just a giant monster movie" as if that isn’t the best fucking thing in the world. It’s a giant monster movie. Take your medicine and like it. As if we have too many theatrical quality monster movies in our lives.
Makes me want to punch someone in the liver.
I’m not sold on the shadow of the Fozzie Bear monster but the thing lurking between the buildings gets my sauces pumping.
Groove on the clear but still small trailer right here at EMPIRE Online.
