We’re not allowed to talk about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey here at CHUD yet. That’s a bummer. But no one told us we couldn’t talk about its sequel, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug!
It’s a funny thing to show an image that’ll be instantly recognizable only after you’ve seen Journey, but fans of the book will recognize what we’re looking at here. This of course is Bilbo in his famed “Scrooge McDuck” phase, swimming through all of dragon Smaug’s gold:
The EW piece where the image is from also confirms the new trilogy reaches its conclusion not too long after The Battle of Five Armies. Via screenwriter Philippa Boyens:
“The dragon is a huge, wonderful, amazing part of the story, but it doesn’t end there. Everyone can suspect there’s a rather large battle in film three.”
I’m chomping at the bit to tell you all about The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and I know Renn is too. Peter Jackson’s given us much to discuss and will continue to for the remainder of this trilogy.
