Yes, yes, we all think it’s wonderful that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are blowing up and starring in their Star Treks and their Hobbits and basically living the dream. Good on them. They deserve it. But, damn it, does it have to come at the expense of Sherlock, the brilliant BBC series that features the pair as a modern-day Holmes and Watson?
Apparently so, as EW is reporting that filming on the show’s third season, which was to begin in January, has now been pushed back until March to accommodate the pair’s busy schedules. Which means the BBC won’t be airing it until sometime late next year. Which mean PBS likely won’t be airing it for we Americans until 2014. That’s a excruciatingly long wait to find out just how — spoiler alert! — Sherlock managed to fake his own death at the end of season two.
Personally, I’m going to point my rage toward Peter Jackson. All these extra Hobbit films better be worth it, yo.
