Just this weekend I brought you the terrible news that Kevin Smith would be sneaking Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash promos into a future episode of Battlestar Galactica when he joined the ragtag fleet as a guest director. Some of the wiser Chewers on our message board said that it would never happen, that Smith would eventually back out, as he does whenever he nears a project that could force him to stretch outside of his comfort zone.
Well, it didn’t take long. Not long after we ran that story, the official Battlestar Galactica message boards at the SciFi Channel website received a visit from show runner Ron Moore’s wife (you’ll know her if you listen to Moore’s weekly podcast) with a terse and typo’d message: “No he’ not. Scheduling conflict.”
And like that the crisis is averted. I don’t even care why Smith dropped out – whether it’s really a scheduling issue or if it’s as our posters predicted – the important thing is that the final season of Battlestar Galactica, one of my all-time favorite TV shows, will air unmolested.
