I’ve been keeping tabs on Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf for some time, mostly because I love the amazing lineage of the story and the fact that no one has truly nailed it. Of course, when I found out it would be some odd hybrid of The Polar Express, Fire and Ice, and my night terrors I started to fear.
Now we get to see the film in action and I am really baffled as to what this project is and whether it’ll be a trendsetting step forward or a really uncomfortable theater experience. There are aspects of this which scream of coolness and others which makes me want to press the "X" button to get to the start screen. Judge for yourself and expect the boys to come back from Comic-Con with much more opinion on whether this is better or worse than the 80’s horror comedy I wanted to make, Baio Wolf.
