Figure whenever NINJA is released then add at least 4 months for a possible UNDISPUTED 3 release. Same company made them so I don't think they'll put them out too close to one another.

Impressive!
Looks like BOYKA gets a wise old man of his own in U3!
But I think if the old man tries to pull any soft ass bonding shit, that will be another thing that MAKES BOYKA ANGREE.

It also looks like the President from Command Performance will be getting steady NU IMAGE work for years.

Looks to be in the same tradition of UNDISPUTED 2. Works for me.
I like how there's a national tournament of prison fighters. Because that shit's totally above board.

You're right, Molt.
3,000 MILES TO GRACELAND features one of Costner's best performances. I really don't dig him much, but he fit that role like a glove.

Glad you gave Costner another chance, Bob. Did you enjoy the cast dancing around during the credits? What a hoot.

Wish I could recommend Costner's other psycho nutjob performance in MR. BROOKS, but while Costner is pretty good the film as a whole is bunk.

I thought Costner was totally outclassed by that decrepit old cop during the sudden high noon showdown.

"GRRRRRRRRREAT DAY!"

Instead of dancing they all should have been rocking the beds like Russell and Cox.

When 3000 miles comes up, I don't really think about a Costner or Russell.
I think more about THE END OF AN ERA. Howie Long was never seen in a movie again.

HOP ON THU BUS, GUS!

We were name dropped in one of Devin's latest pieces. He claims that we're the only people in existence who appreciate Predator 2. He may be right. But someone should send him the update that Judas hates it.

I really like Mr. Brooks actually. Demi Moore is miscast but the film has a great quirkiness to it that I find very appealing. And you're right that Costner excels. I'd argue it's up there with A Perfect World as one of his best performances.

Also (spoiler): Any movie in which Dane Cook gets partially decapitated with a shovel is automatically a masterpiece. (end)

Costner was fine, so was William Hurt, but that stuff with millionaire cop Demi Moore and Costner's daughter is terrible.

Do agree that Costner is great in A PERFECT WORLD, probably neck and neck with GRAN TORINO as far as favorite Eastwood-directed flicks.

A Perfect World is great stuff. It's the forerunner to No Country for Old Men.

Mystic River is still probably my favorite directorial outing from Eastwood. Penn hasn't been better, then Unforgiven and A Perfect World.

I read that excerpt in Devin's article and had a chuckle. I get where he's coming from with the character based stuff, but we get all we need to know about the characters right quick in Predator 2. "Danneh and ah came up togetha! 15 year's on da fuckin' streets!"

Plus it's got De Scorpeeo and his guys putting cocaine on their wounds. I've never seen that done in any other movie since.

Danny Glover's awesome/weird handslap either.

I've to say that our idea of changing the thread name to "The B-Action Thread" is one of the best we've done this year. It looks so clean and neat without an overlong title.

He's worked with them before and he is one of the most respected actors in Bulgaria, he was even cast by Mel Gibson in PASSION OF THE CHRIST (as Pilate, same role he'll play 2 years later in THE INQUIRY with Dolph)! He's not too comfortable with English though and he's more than reserved (ie my interview on CP).

I sort of remember him from THE INQUIRY, but all I mostly recall from that movie was F. Murray Abraham endlessly hitting his daughter over the head with a stick.

Hopefully Dolph and F. Murray were paid well at least.

Unforgiven also lacks Eastwood criticizing a girl for cursing and then calling her "dragon lady" when he demands another beer.

I don't know if Gran Torino is better than Unforgiven, but GT was definitely more important to Clint!
Did he sing an emotional song at the end of Unforgiven??

And he sang it

Not too far off. Friend of mine got pulled over once for speeding. The cop kept repeating this awesome line about he didn't allow that sort of thing there. "Not in MY town."

I don't even know if UNFORGIVEN is my favorite western directed by Eastwood. Took the advice of this thread to revisit HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER not too long ago and got a newfound appreciation for that one. Those two are real close now in my eyes.

There might be something of a GRAN TORINO backlash now, but in ten yrs folks will be looking back fondly. To me it's a perfect coda-a homage on his work and commentary on what the work and he himself stands for.

Agree with Molt, give me the spaghetti throwback HiGH PLANES DRIFTER (and BRONCO BILLY, but i don't speak for Molt on that one. Ha) over the dreary UNFORGIVEN.

Don't forget PALE RIDER. Possibly the last appearance of "The Man With No Name".

Clint even hits Richard Kiel "Jaws" in the balls with a sledgehammer.

The best thing UNFORGIVEN has going for it is providing closure for Eastwood's career in westerns. Part of what makes it special is that we've seen Eastwood in so many westerns that all his past films, from DOLLARS to PALE RIDER, basically serve as a back story for William Munny's character.

As much as I dug seeing Eastwood as a worn down gunslinger, I probably got more of a kick out of seeing him play a complete sadist in DRIFTER. Such a scamp.

PALE RIDER kind of sucks.

A saccharine Shane. Even SILVERADO has more balls.

By the way Molt, I got a kick seeing that you took PRIME CUT in the 70's Draft! You were down with Lee Marvin's overlooked gem before it became a thread fave!

You really need to see EMPEROR OF THE NORTH. I think you'd dig it the most.

I can never say it enough. Raul Julia OWNS as Strom. See The Rookie. It will change your life. Just like Ricochet and Black Rain.

Gran Torino got in my top Eastwood list for all of Uncle Walt's brilliant dialogue.

Hopefully you will be seated next to a hobo that smells like rotten lobster and that will mitigate the peepee smell!

Count me in as not very impressed with the EDGE OF DARKNESS trailer. I love Mel, so I'll give it a try but my expectations will be low. "FASTEN YOUR SEATBELT!" made me laugh, hopefully we'll get some classic RIGGS RAGE! Surely nothing as wild as LW 2 where he gets so worked up he throws his baseball cap! The one I really can't wait for is that Mel movie where he has the BEAVER puppet. I can already tell I'll be clutching my stomach in laughter pain from that one! Every single picture I see from the movie is hilarious.

That Edge Of Darkness trailer was friggin' great. I loved that quick shot of Melvin getting tasered and of him doing some Brian Mills-esque martial arts moves on that guy with the knife. It's now officially on my must see list.

At first I thought Melvin was using his Australian accent, but then at the end I realized he was going for a Boston accent.

That beaver puppet kills me every time I see it. I hope it has a name too.

Edge of Darkness looks HARD AS FUCK! The man behind Martin Riggs, Mad Max, and Porter appears to be back in full force, and I can't be happier. The release date and the way it looks has me thinking it could be the Taken of 2010. I'm a sucker for any revenge film with a grizzled dude taking on a bunch of talking assholes.

Continuing my Universal Monsters exploration with Creature from the Black Lagoon, which is a great, great creature feature so far. The Creature is beyond effective and better than any CGI shit nowadays. Also watched the original Mummy last night, which was good but not great. More adventure than horror I discovered.

Getting the Blu-ray for Hardware tomorrow plus Rock n' Roll Nightmare from Netflix. Anyone ever see that one? I hear it's a train of nonstop laughter in terms of how stupid it is.

"I'm the guy who usually stops you from connecting A to B."

Ray Winstone continues to be his own unique brand of badass. How he wasn't nominated for anything for The Departed is strange.

Anyone ever seen his first movie set in British juvenile hall called Scum? Check it out. Even at a young age he was bringing the badass. There's a scene that was pretty much carbon copied in Penn's Bad Boys where he takes over. Just seeing him with his accent saya "I'M THE NEW DADDY NOW!" is great. Daddy being the leader of the place obviously. Cool term.

Winstone is really, really awesome. He was just oozing badass and evil in The Departed, a great assistant to Jack Nicholson's crazy, coked-out crime boss. And then of course The Proposition, and he's great enough in Sexy Beast that you actually stop realizing he's in a pink Speedo for way too much of the run time.

Anyone ever see the fairly obscure (just got a DVD release last year) music drama Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains? Has a young Diane Lane and an even younger Laura Dern as a group of girls who start a Runaways-like punk band. AWESOME music, and Winstone shows up as what I'm certain is a caricature of Johnny Rotten.

I heard about Scum, it sounds really good. Think a friend of mine told me he saw some of it in a class. Got it on the queue.
