NOWHERE TO RUN isn't really good, certainly one of the weaker Van Dammes.
Now... imagine Van Damme had played COBRA.... would that have fit?

Cobra played by Van Damme would have surely had some great moments.

Erix, I'd back the move to watch [REC]. Good show. Not seen Quarantine, though. Also...
Andrew J. Robinson played Garak. Marc Alaimo was Gul Dukat. Both were great. And I, as this post proves, am terminally single.

Jesus, those lumps on Stallone's arm look horrifying.

RE: Nowhere to Run
Meh. Decent flick. Van Dammage wanted to show his act-tour side - though when five-o came around when he was in the forest, he hopped on that motorbike with the coolness... RE: Stallone's arms WHAT THE FUCK! It's the Stallone pudding I tells ya. I almost bought and tried it out. Thank Allah Shake Moo-hak-mid I didn't.

I think the lighting in that photo isn't very flattering to Stallone's arms. Personally I was more upset that Stallone made his arrival without wearing some sort of Rugby or Polo team shirt on. Once you've tapped into that style, you just don't turn it off.

No problem, duke. Absolutely right, H.G.E.C. I love Alaimo's permanently pissed-off performance in Total Recall more and more over time. He's a fantastic go-to-guy for borderline pantomime villains (see Arena.)
And all Andrew J. Robinson fans should see Child's Play 3 for his eerie performance as the school's barber.

I doubt I could ever love Andrew Robinson in a role more than as Scorpio in DIRTY HARRY, but I sure wish I could have seen Robinson in the 1988 Made-for-TV movie LIBERACE, starring Robinson as Liberace.
Robinson seems to capture every nuance of Liberace in this promo for the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoY0i...eature=related "Outrageous, flamboyant..." |

RE: Stallone in Brazil
Several years back, I think Van Damme was promoting Knock/Off, he was in Brazil at a beach and there was news about him there. There were models and a lady newscaster interviewing the man. JCVD was quite the flirt and the women was wanting his attention. The newscaster lady was clearly turned on by him with the evident hard nipples peaking through her bra. I wonder if The Expenadables will have the same effect on the women of Brazil. And how how Jet will fair?

Moltisanti, my first instinct was to say "you made my day." Then, I realized that's perhaps not as common a saying in your part of the world and you may mistake it for a lame Dirty Harry joke. Instead, let me say that that link made me laugh loud and long. For the second time in as many days, thank you.

That Liberace movie looks very interesting. It probably isn't available on DVD or even VHS. The shot of a wide-eyed and open mouthed Andrew Robinson riding a motor scooter or something on the stage sold me! Flamboyant indeed!

Any actor could probably show Liberace during the good times, tickling the ivories, but I don't know how many could match Robinson in depicting Liberace's rage. |

Surely we could score someone's taped VHS copy on Ebay, couldn't we?
It looks like a masterpiece and we must see this film!

I inherited a large cache of Playboys from 1988-91, and the issue with her is in it, as is the Sherilyn Fenn issue, the one with Vanity, a Total Recall-era issue with Sharon Stone, and an issue with Shannon AND Tracy Tweed. Netflix sent me Suburbia (Penelope Spheeris) instead of Switchblade Sisters, but I did want to see the former. A friend loves it. Any good? |

Sly needs to smooth out those lumps like his mother Jackie!

WTF was that?
Anyone here catching FAST AND FURIOUS this weekend? Word is that Diesel is back in form in this one. Mean and angry. Decided to give 12 ROUNDS a miss. I'll catch it on Cable instead. Everything about this just screams "SPEED knockoff" to me. |

Hideous arm lumps and all, I gotta say that Sly is still aging gracefully for me. Plastic surgery helps, of course.
Jackie Stallone bears a striking resemblance to her son! Including the twisted lip that was supposedly caused when forceps pinched a nerve in his face. Interesting. Speaking of that spectacular Liberace film, I wonder if it went into production before or after he died... Because it would be good if they include this dramatic subplot (complete with a sniveling asshole villain!). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8WOo...eature=related That's the kind of hard-hitting revelatory drama I like to see in my biopics. To really move you with the plight of its protagonists and how opportunistic assholes took advantage of them.

I love that The B Action Movie Thread has now spent half a page on Liberace. It makes me feel less silly in recommending to everyone this week's episode of How I Met Your Mother, "Murtaugh".

Was that Andrew Robinson I saw as Liberace dressed up as Santa Claus in that promo? Really makes me want to see it.

We haven't even gotten to the time Liberace was on Batman:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jPGBQ77ddU "But... will it be a good night?" So is that episode of How I Met Your Mother titled Murtaugh for any particular LETHAL WEAPON-related reason, or is it just a zany title? |
|
||||
|
Maybe, in a bid to further spruce up the Batman saga, Christopher Nolan can make Chandell the villain of The Caped Crusader. Nathan Lane could play him! Or, for that matter, why not Andrew Robinson?
Frankly, it's the only way they're going to top Ledger's Joker.

I can still enjoy their chemistry.
"Remind me to pay Jabba The Hutt here a visit." "I'll bring the chainsaw." "I'll bring the beer." So today I gave my kids the quiz, and added some bonus questions, that I'm glad quite a few got right. They were as follows: Who played Rambo? What movie did the actor from Taken do about the Holocaust? Who is the current Governor of California? So many of them got the first and last one right. Nice to know that the younger generation know who Rambo is, let alone who played him. Can't wait to pick up Tango And Cash on blu ray. I'm also going to pick up Never Say Never Again on blu ray. This week it's only $14.99 at Target!

I envy your Rosanna Arquette and Vanity playboys. The best I have celebrity wise is Drew Barrymore and Tiffany ![]() What happened to Arquette? Agree she was epitome of 80's hotness. I can't think of a big movie she's been in since her cameo in Pulp FictionDid Van Damme ruin her? I just watched Best Seller. Not bad. |

I have been wanting a blu-ray player for a while, and Tango & Cash's impending release just makes it that much more painful! They have been playing Tango and Cash a lot on TV lately, and even on TV the picture quality is 10 times better than on the Tango & Cash dvd!

You gents seen the knock-off, Liberty and Bash starring Miles O' Keefe and Lou Ferrigno?
Great tagline: When crime becomes war, it takes a soldier to win it. The movie not so. BTW: I checked out Full Contact (1992) from my library. Ringo Lam is the fucking man! Chow Yun-Fat kicks ass and Simon Yam is a great "gay" baddie. I never gay people can be so mean and cruel. If you guys haven't seen it? It holds up well and the action is violent and visceral. You'll be rooting for Chow all the way...

RE: Tango & Cash
Stallone-genius that he is--fired the visionary director of Runaway Train and replaced him with the director of Purple Rain. (Not the best call) Have we discussed that Swayze turned down Tango? I hope it was to make Road House. Only acceptable justification. |

Bluray extras include: A Trailer!
But who needs extras when the movie is full of Sly and Kurt playing by their own rules?? *guy is leaving the police station with a pizza in his hand for some reason* Kurt: WhoaWhoaWhoaPIZZA!

Why was he UNCREDITED for his role??

I don't think they ever explained why kids seem to LOVE Gabriel Cash! In his intro scene there's like 40 kids running after his car screaming in delight. They probably just added them in to reinforce that Cash is the wild and wacky one. But the music sells it well enough!
