Blue Gelfling would be a good brand name for a psychedelic.

I really liked that portion of Latino Review's ComicCon interview with Cameron where he talks about what the advent of Avid/non-linear editing has done to action sequences and how he checks his action sequences mirrored to see how well the geography/composition/timing is playing out. Reminds me of my artist friends that will mirror their canvas in order to see if the composition reads clearly with fresh eyes.

I find little details of a filmmakers' work process like the one I mentioned above very interesting.

Probably in order to boost their failing publication. How do I know its failing? Devin Faraci wrote for it and any magazine, or website, that would employ that bloated, pretentious asswipe is no doubt mismanaged and bleeding money (the only reason CHUD hasn’t gone under Is because Nunziata was ordered by his wife to get a real job) nor is it a coincidence that Faraci himself wrote a front page blowjob for his old employers on CHUD when they released that terminally unfunny Cheech & Chong video the other week. This Oldboy spoof has about as much entertainment value as being Harry Knowles proctologist.

The best part is that Faraci doesn’t even know that I was the one who sent him that angry letter posing as a member of Avatars crew. Sucker.

So Muckety/Diggity also uses flawless logic and on-point examples?

And every statement was a direct reply to someone else's *blarg*

Dude wanted examples and I gave them. Obviously my Pixar examples wouldn't have worked for him even though they were accurate.

I'm pretty close to going into overload shutdown on all things to do with this movie until the last month or fortnight before release at this juncture.

...cause this is just gonna be the same thread over and over until then.

The whole Pixar thing just didn't make any sense at all, best move on.

It makes plenty of sense, it's not that hard of a concept. You all said it yourselves, the target audience is Children. All things being equal the premise of something that is designed to target children sounds dumb and childish to an adult audience, something the average adult wouldn't typically want to watch UNLESS they had some sort of pre-conceived notion about what to expect, such as a previous track record of Pixar films.

If you talk to a lot of adults who don't have experience with Pixar movies and such (not so much anymore) a lot of them will tell you that their premises sound dumb and childish. This is precisely what several "adults" told me when I tried to get them to watch Ratatouille or something, not believing a rat that wanted to be a cook would be an interesting film for them. Using the same premise of many Pixar films a lesser film studio could easily make films that appeal ONLY to young audiences and not to people of all ages.

And don't give me that stuff about trying to put myself into the role of a child. Using that logic one could put yourself into the mindset of someone that would like anything and no premise would be bad.

The premise is not given a pass because it's a Pixar film, you take into account that a children's film will havea a different context. You do have to take context into it, and that includes the audience or the genre.

Something that sounds good and interesting for a romantic comedy might sound ridiculous for a horror movie.

You were also making some weird argument about how children's movies (in this case Pixar) weren't really targeted at children.

Bizarre.

You're getting caught up in what the intended audience is, I'm just talking about an individual's own expectations and preferences not necessarily in relation to the intended audience. Given the variation in humans and their preferences, you won't be able to find a premise that doesn't appeal to some sort of person anyhow.

A Pixar film that is intended for an audience of children may indeed have a premise that sounds good for a children's film, however based on that premise alone your average adult isn't going to find the premise appealing to their adult tastes and preferences.

The creators behind the end film are the ones who bridge that gap. People who typically don't like children's films, horror, romantic comedies, etc may actually end up loving films based on those categories IF there's enough film making talent behind those films. In the end, you end up being a fan of GOOD movies, not necessarily a fan of a genre or films with a particular target audience.

Who is Marty Jannetty?

edit: Nevermind. How does this apply? Are you stepping in for CapitanAmerica now or something or am I stepping in for that other guy who has been somewhat supportive of me but who hasn't been nearly as involved as I have? What's your complaint with this? The fact that at least two guys understand each other and disagree with you? Calling one of us Marty Jannetty and the other Shawn Michaels is suppose to diminish both of us...or something?
