I'm still vouching for my Glenmorangie Quintas Ruban as a high point of fucking awesome for the price, but I'll give a look into the Dewar.

Ah, missed the individual threads. I posted in the main thread by accident.

The Dewars is pretty decent for what it is, but I'll take the Macallan 12 or the Johnny Walker Green over it. I still need to try out that Quinta Ruban, Martin. I was actually planning on getting a bottle of that this weekend.

You really sold me on Dewar's. See also Sugo's. Pity, given how far away it is!

I suppose this is where I should have put the Ommegang plug. Well, they deserve two of em.

After a brief lookaround for other North American breweries focusing on Belgian styles (Allagash and Ommegang being the heaviest hitters), I found the they-called-it-what Unibroue brewery in Canada, whose website curiously has no pictures of unibrowed brewers. I think I've heard of em before, but never tried em. Will search and consume. Unibroue beer, that is, not unibrows.

The banner ad as I type this is for McDonalds. Touche, Mr. Kroc!

Another good American-style Belgian (if you can track it down in Atlanta), is Russian River Breweries' Damnation Ale. Good stuff.

Unibroue is pretty good stuff. Quebec brewery by the way. We have a lot of great microbrewery. Pretty much the Mecca of beer in North America.

Lately, I have found myself drinking Glenlivet, but reading this thread has me wanting to try new single malts.

Everyone needs to read Don Winslow's The Dawn Patrol and Power of the Dog.

You need to. No offense, but Glenlivet should be used to clean combs.

Two posts in response to Nick and two super thrashings.

Brother Judas, what would you recommend. As a go to drink, I personally prefer Canadian Club 12 year old, but am an amateur when it comes to Single Malts.

Brother Matalo, I direct your attention to the scotch thread

Seriously, the Macallan 12 cannot be beat. Don't journey to the East without it.

Thanks for the link. I have in laws coming over shortly. I think I might head to the bar and try a couple.

I'm a rather devoted fan of the 1792 Ridgemont Reserve Bourbon. Reasonably priced at $27-$30 a pop. 93 proof, so it's got a bit of a kick... but exceptionally smooth with no heavy burn, which is good for people with ulcers who drink way too much.

Like me.

mmm sounds nice.
I'm trying to find something special for a weekend party/music festival i'm attending. The Saturday night lineup is pretty much my dream line up for a show and I want a nice bottle to stash in my back back and mix drinks in front of the speakers all night

Before I can say more, I guess I'll just have to pay your city a visit and find out for myself.

The smell of rum makes my girlfriend hate me, so I'm attempting to go clean. There's no bachelor parties on the horizon either to give me an excuse. 'Tis a sad day for a monogamous college senior who likes heterosexual sex.

I'm so excited I just had to mention that I just managed to track down a bottle of Dark Lord that is now waiting for the right occasion to drink.

Has anyone else had a chance to try this?
