One of the things I quite like about the show is how few real answers the angels have. They're almost as clueless about the deep questions and how it all works as the humans are.

Next weeks episode is one of my favorites of the season. It's a mythology episode. It's a Ben Edlund episode, which of course should clue every body into what's so great about it right off the bat. It's actually a huge, epic story, and we had a whole lot of trouble trying to get it in the can. We were pulling our hair out over this one, because it's so big, and sooooo good, but when we're at 56 something minutes, entire scenes have to go.

Anyways, the title is Abandon All Hope, and boy. It EARNS that title.

I also wanted to shout out to the gentlemen playing the German Hookman fan. He had us busting our guts. "Vah, Vollow up!"

Also, the whole Drag Me To Hell inspired upside down thrash about scene turned out great.

Yes I have been hearing about this for a while now and I am oh so excited. Also it would be cool if they recut the episode and put those scenes back in for the eventual Blu-ray release.

Actually really enjoyed this episode. Yeah, it was filler but Supernatural filler is better than 90% of the stuff out there. Also, it had the line "Like a monkey on the sun, it was too hot to live!"

Still, I'm looking forward to them ditching the wackiness for an ep or 2 and going dark, which is hopefully what next week's episode is going to be.

Anyone know how many eps are left this season?

Well if they are doing network standard 22 episodes to a season then they have 13 left.

Pretty sure they established it that Chuck was hearing the voices of the angels and he knew all about Dean and Sam because the angels were conversing about them with each other.

I called the punch line really early into the episode, but then, I watch the show with a slash ficcer, so I notice homoerotic undercurrents through osmosis.

I thought that was the redhead chick, who turned out to be an angel but had forgotten about it, then remembered and gave Dean some sweet angel lovin'. Her name escapes me at the moment.

The only thing they got wrong was the fan questions at the panel - too short. All fan questions for anything nerdy at con's are prefaced by a long and pointless preamble about what the fan thinks about whatever before they actually get to the question. Even Herr Hookhand's was too brief. Also missing: Incredibly disturbing questions about their personal life or something deeply inappropriate(At a Veronica Mars panel in San Diego, I once heard somebody ask the cast "Would you rather eat poop or swim in it?" )

Anybody feel the show is getting too jokey and meta? Its going to be hard to take whats coming seriously with the constant self consciousness, and self mockery. I just think the show has become far too self aware.

I think last weeks episode was good, but it had the misfortune of being a "funny" one that aired after maybe the funniest episdoe they've done. I like to think (as someone mentioned a bit back), that they're getting all the meta/cute episodes out of the way so the end of the season (series?) will be mostly just getting down to business.

Ehh from from I understand there is another silly cutesy ep coming up. Although ep 10 I hear is epic and tragic so.....lets hope they can keep a good balance. Some of the funny eps can take a turn towards darkness like the tv ep. I never expected Gabriel showing up and giving some huge fucked up speech.

I tend to like the meta stuff and the silly episodes, so I enjoyed the last two alot. This one tho very funny did have fairly dark ghost story with a bit of a twist, so I liked that too. I imagine the show will start to get a little darker in the days to come.

I do read TWoP for television stuff, even tho there is alot of bitching, well that wasn't my point really. Anyway, "Barnes" and "Demian" are two of the recappers for Supernatural over there. So for the TWoP crowd there was another layer of meta.

Yeah, she did too, because she's an angel, but I was pretty sure they established Chuck was doing the same thing. I took it that's how the angels planted Chuck with misleading information in the season premiere.

Ehh either way you'd think at some point Sam or Dean would call Chuck with a "Hey buddy uhh so we're about to go into this old spooky house. So what are we looking at? Werewolves, vampires, demons, what? I mean since you see the future like weeks in advance maybe you could give us a heads up".

Also since the Angels apparently tell him the future.... and they are always looking for Sam and Dean.....maybe they could just like appear at a place they know they are going to be.

Eh, I don't think he really gets all that much in advance, though. In The Monster at the End of this Book (still love that episode title), he only got his visions like a day or two in advance, and they weren't complete pictures. So maybe the gaps don't fill in until after the events take place.

And I think it's still unclear where Chuck's visions come from. The angels planted a false vision in his head, yes, but I don't think they've ever actually addressed where the real visions come from. Maybe it's just some sort of abstract "heavenly power" that the angels don't actually control.

Yeah but a day or so in advance would be enough to prevent murder right? Also if I recall he also saw Sam killing Lilth and letting Luifer free in advance didn't he? Now in that case the angels wouldn't let him tell Sam and Dean so it worked. So I guess the argument could be made that anything truly important wouldn't be told to Sam and Dean because the angels would put a stop to it. However if the angels know about it that means that they are sending the visions to Chuck which means they should be able to find the boys and look even further ahead to gain important info. I think the writers may have given the angels just a bit too much power.

I remember Zachariah having a conversation with Chuck about the visions he saw. Chuck was going to go shoot himself in the head, and Zachariah said he'd just be brought back to life.

But the big reveal there was that Chuck was forbidden from talking to the boys about the big visions. I assume that Chuck is trying to circumvent that by writing them and getting them out into the world. The angels can control Chuck, but probably not the superfan girl. I dunno.

We all had to know that was going to happen. Interesting that Lucifer mentions only five things are immune to the Colt. Also interesting to know that Lucifer could give a piss about his demon children.

I kind of figured an angel would be immune to the Colt.

Also, I loved it when Cas couldn't exorcise Meg and just decided to throw her into the fire to be a bridge.

I like the way Lucifer doesn't remember Castiel straight away. Proof that Castiel is a lower tier level of Angel.

Or he was just fuckin with him. Bye bye pretty pretty Jo and badass Ellen. Sniff. Ok, so the five beings are Lucifer, Michael, God, Jesus and the Anti-Christ? That's my guess.

Alternatively, the five things that the colt can't kill could be the writers way of opening up a new avenue for the show once the apocalypse is averted.

I can see the Wincesters setting out to hunt down and destroy whatever the other four are as a fitting follow-up quest to this one.

Using a demon named Crowley as a turncoat who wants Earth to keep on humming is a nice way for the show to tip its hat at Good Omens.

The whole 'prophet chuck' storyline, convention included, strongly reminds me of the way that 'Stephen King' shows up in the Dark Tower stories.

I loved the exit that they gave to Jo and Ellen.

That's true. Rather than defining what the five are now, we could see some of them in the upcoming seasons.

No I think it can and WILL kill angels. Now when some of those angels show up to haul Dean in they have a way to fight them without Castiel around. Plus Lucifer said him specifically. I imagine if it couldn't kill any angel Lucifer or Castiel would have told them so. I remember a few episodes bitching about the gun being able to kill the devil and I am so fucking happy it can't. It would have been just so easy. I do think it's cool that they even addressed the loose end that is the Colt. The really could have just never brought it up at all this season and we would all have just assumed the Colt had been destroyed. But no, they took the time to look, find and then finally find out the Colt was useless, very cool. Plus it's not a complete waste of time because we know that it can kill demons and if im right, angels.

Oh and did anyone else think it was just a little silly that Dean had to utter some badass line before shooting Lucifer? I mean could have given Lucifer just the time he needed to ya know movie a few inches out of the way or throw him across the universe.

The two deaths were very cool. I had heard something about two characters being offed this season and I kind of figured it would be them, still was pretty gut wrenching.

So whats left now? God, the demon kid, Michael and maybe some assistance from Gabriel, do wonder how it will all come together. Oh and anyone else think that the other 4 things the gun can't kill are the 4 horsemen? I mean WAR told them he can't die. Of course if the other horsemen go down as easy as War then I really don't see a threat. Speaking of which, think anyone is going to use that ring? Although maybe im wrong I mean Michael and god would be stronger than Lucifer so it shouldn't kill them either. Although maybe like the Horsemen Lucifer is too powerful to every be TRULY killed. I mean Michael couldn't kill him he just sent him to a prison. Maybe at the end of all this Lufier will just be sent back to his cage.

Nice not to have to hear Domingo's fucking comments about the direction "we" are deciding to go with the show.

I was also thinking that the Four Horsemen were the others that can't be hurt by the gun. Would make sense, I think.

Great episode, by the way. I'm a little bummed it will be two months before we see any new Supernatural, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it.

He said five things in creation that it can't kill and he's one of them, not to explicit like "it can not kill I, Lucifer". I think it's on the line whether they mean just Lucifer or angels as a whole.

I'm still waiting for them to show what the angels did to Anna. If they imprisoned her or killed her or whatever. That's one plot line I hope they don't just ignore.

I read somewhere that Anna will time travel back to kill Sam's parents in order to prevent him from becoming Lucifer's Vessel.

The Harvelles had a nice sendoff. However, I think the gut-wrenching, "we're killin' off major characters!" feeling they were going for was hampered by the fact that Ellen and Jo dropped off the face of the earth after season 2. Credit must go to the actresses, though, because they sold it. Now, if they had killed off, say, Bobby, that would have been a nice shocker worthy of the episode title.

Of course Bobby's death is the last thing I would want from this show. Hell, he's such a badass, he's probably one of the five things the colt can't kill alongside Lucifer, God, Connor MacLeod, and the Grimace.

Glad to see Death brought into the mix. For the Apocalypse, not a whole lot had been going on, so it'll be good for the Winchesters to have a tangible threat to tie into the main plot while Lucifer is stuck in his rent-a-vessel.
