Work JJ Jameson's son back in and we get Manwolf...then call Rick Baker; "Sorry to hear you were shafted on Wolfman, man, but we need a suit that is half man half wolf but still essentially a Wolfman... would you make Manwolf?" |

They probably wouldn't go this route because she's a terrible actress and looks kind of like a dude in drag. I agree with that other chewer about her being the worse thing on Dexter... the worst thing on a terrible show. That's no ringing endorsement.
BTW: I watched Spider-Man 3 a few weeks ago for the first time. I think the time and lowered expectations really helped... I quite enjoyed it.

No, she's not the worst by virtue of Julie Benz also being on the show.

It doesn't matter who they pick for the character, as long as they give her a reason to be there. Looking back at the other Spider-man movies, you can argue that female roles have been malnourished as a famine victim. We don't even have to talk about Dunst here, but what else do we have here? The woman who plays Betty? The Russian girl? The only thing that Gwen Stacy did was get dipped once and get out of the way of the GFOOCC. I'm hoping Raimi decides to give us a really juicy female role this time.

They really should start having the tail end of crimes/adventures in these films, ala James Bond or Indiana Jones. You'd get to squeak in an extra villain and not have to worry about building him up or making him neigh undefeatable- this is where, Rhino, Stilt Man, The Beetle, Electro, The Ringer et al belong: Prologue.

Bruce Campbell as Mysterio has long been the Holy Grail of the "pre-credits smackdown" argument.

I'm hard pressed to identify any strong female characters in a Raimi film much less a juicy female role written by Raimi.

You're making Sharon Stone cry, HBarr. Granted, I don't think he wrote that one.

What, no Paste Pot Pete? His battle with Spider-man was epic! (only Dan Slott fans will get this joke)
If Mysterio's not available, i'd love to see Campbell as the Shocker (ultimate version); just a street level guy with vibration blasts who gets defeated by Spider-man repeatedly...and is fucking miserable and depressed about it.

Just pointing out that strong female roles isn't what Raimi is known for (so I wouldn't necessarily expect to see one in the near future).

If you are referring to Christine, I wouldn't call her strong or compelling.

One film. Out of how many? Plus he didn't write that screenplay. Never mind the other weaker females in the same film.
Not trying to tear the man down (I like his films) but expecting strong female characters from a Raimi film is bizarre. Not his strong point.

Singling it out as a weak point is just as weird. It's not like he writes weak-willed females opposite strapping all-American heroes. He writes fallible, weak characters across the board, then puts them through the ringer. It's what he does.
Plus, you know, we gave you two strong female characters in Raimi films when you said you couldn't think of any. Aunt May ain't no push-over, either. |

I'd argue that you've only given me one (Christine isn't a strong character but that's a debate for elsewhere).
At any rate, as much as I would like to see Black Cat on the screen I'd prefer for him to stay away from the character. Raimi doesn't quite juggle the relationship aspect of Parker very well.

Knowing Raimi, Campbell would more likely be the wacky priest who marries Peter and MJ at the end.

He didn't write it, I am aware, but Sarah (Bridget Fonda) in A Simple Plan is Lady MacBeth in all but name... not many stronger female roles than that. Even if she is a colossal bitch.

Please, no more Bruce Campbell cameos. The previous one was terribly unfunny and the last thing this movie needs is more pandering to internet fanboys.

I've seen a cat-themed love interest/villain/hero in a superhero film before. You know what I haven't seen? A LIZARD MAN SUPERVILLAIN. Sorry to be a childish fanboy, but no Lizard = fuck this movie.

Frankly, I think seeing Spider-Man face off against the seedy underground crime element of the city would be a great change of pace; as Devin suggests, Black Cat could absolutely lead the story in that direction.

Hey, a lot of us are pulling for The Lizard,,provided they keep his power to command reptiles, and move the story eventually to the Everglades. Spidey needs to get out of New York for a change.

After stumbling upon Get Smart the other day, the image of Anne Hathaway slithering her way across the floor and thrusting her ass in the air to avoid those lasers begs to differ, duke.

That would actually be pretty decent. If they were going to go with an organized crime story, I'd love to see Michael Clarke Duncan get at least a cameo as Kingpin, but 20th Century Fox might still own the rights. I'm not sure.
I'll have a lot more interest in future Spider-Man films when and if Marvel ever completes their retrieval of all their various properties under one umbrella. My favorite Spidey stories have always been his team-ups with other heroes.

No, otherwise I would have used her name. Can you blame me? Her IMDB note for the Spider-man movies should say her role was: figure in 3 frames adorned with black wig.

Plus, in that outfit? Great. |

Eliza Dushku helped Tobey Maguire with the audition tape that got him Spider-Man, now she wants him to return the favor:

Haha! The cancellation of Dollhouse can't break Barry's stride. Keep the Faith Barry!
And Diora Baird as The Black Cat sounds awesome. Not only because I think she could pull off the sexy/sassy aspect of the character, but also because I'm a pervert. ETA: I didn't realize until after I posted, but "Keep the Faith" is a fantastic pun. That is all. Last edited by Tim Long; Yesterday at 02:01 AM. |
